Garage Case Study

Garage, a leading clothing brand recognized for its trendy and affordable fashion offerings, has embarked on a journey to redefine its digital presence with a redesigned mobile application. This case study delves into the evolution of the Garage app, presenting a cleaner and more user-centric version that aligns seamlessly with the brand's ethos and customer expectations.

In revamping the Garage app's homepage, the primary focus was on simplicity and user-friendliness. By featuring the main categories of Garage's clothing line with simple imagery and typography, distractions were minimized, allowing users to focus on exploring products effortlessly. The deliberate choice to adhere to Garage's existing categories ensures consistency for users familiar with the brand's offerings, while also simplifying navigation for newcomers.

To further enhance usability and organization for the categories page, collapsible menu items were introduced. This design approach condenses the content of the page, preventing it from feeling overwhelming, while still providing users with access to a comprehensive range of products. By offering collapsible sections, users can expand only the categories they're interested in exploring further, facilitating a more streamlined and efficient browsing experience.

In refining the shopping page of the Garage app, a priority was placed on facilitating an effortless shopping experience for users. The addition of filter buttons at the top of the page allows for seamless customization, enabling users to refine their search by type and size with ease. This intuitive feature streamlines the browsing process, empowering users to swiftly discover products that align precisely with their preferences and needs, ultimately enhancing satisfaction and expediting purchase decisions.

Furthermore, the inclusion of available colors for each product enhances visual appeal and facilitates informed decision-making. By providing a quick overview of the available color options, users can effortlessly assess product variations and select the option that best suits their style or preferences. Additionally, the more prominent placement of the heart icon for favoriting items offers users a convenient means of bookmarking products of interest, fostering engagement and facilitating future purchases. By displaying all available sizes for each product upfront, without the need for a collapsible menu, users can quickly identify size availability, simplifying the browsing process and reducing friction in their shopping journey.

In redesigning the Profile page of the Garage app, the emphasis was placed on simplifying navigation and improving user accessibility. By replacing icons with an organized list of categories, users can easily locate and access the information they need without the need for visual interpretation. This approach enhances usability, particularly for users who may have difficulty distinguishing between icons or prefer a more straightforward textual representation. Additionally, organizing categories into a list format streamlines the browsing experience, allowing users to quickly find relevant sections such as account settings, order history, and saved favorites.

In this project, I learned the importance of iterative design and incremental improvements in app development. Rather than completely overhauling the existing app, I discovered the power of making subtle yet impactful changes that enhance the user experience. By focusing on small adjustments such as refining navigation, optimizing visual elements, and streamlining functionality, I realized how these incremental changes can collectively transform the app into a more polished and user-friendly platform.
